Ofra Shelef is an Israeli born jewellery designer who sells internationally. Based in London since 1997, she has studied and worked in Tel Aviv, Rome and New York.
Alongside her studies in jewellery Ofra also studied philosophy and history. It is this fusion of the practical and the conceptual that underpins her jewellery design. Combining traditional handcraft techniques with a contemporary sensibility, these high quality pieces offer double meanings.
Ofra´s work often takes something familiar and shifts the initial purpose, creating refined, accessible and witty pieces of jewellery. Her vision is to create sculpture of the everyday. The collections use classic readymade elements which are often taken for granted in jewellery, or other familiar objects, and give them new meanings, through new combinations. Her work plays with the concept of jewellery, prompting humour and enabling new connections.
Ofra´s work has been recognised by retailers as diverse as Paul Smith, Colette, V&A, Black Truffle, EC One, Jess James, @work, 127 Brick Lane.
